funkeFunke Akindele

As she made a graceful entry into the auditorium, it was easy to fall in love with her at once. Her humility and open-mindedness was so apparent. She plunked down on her seat next to jazzyb and beamed a wonderful smile, eliciting a thunderous applause. She made herself comfortable and began to share with the audience as though they were in her own sitting-room.

Her gist transcended stories from early days to more recent events. She gave some insight on the hardship that she faced while coming up in the film industry. She was clear on her values about God, family and self respect. She spoke the support she received not just from her family, but more importantly, form the inner voice that kept telling her, “Funke, you are going to make it.”

She explained that Jenifa was done as a message to youths to shun those vices which appear to be on the increase especially in the higher institutions of learning. For her, it struck close to home, even from the University that she and her sister attended. It was a clear call to all that with the seed of greatest deposited in them, they can be who they ought to be.
